Gujarat will soon become the second state in the country to get sea plane services after Maharashtra. Mumbai’s Maritime Energy Heli Air Services (MEHAIR) Pvt. Ltd., which operates India’s first onshore seaplane services in Maharashtra, will soon launch regional amphibian aircraft services within Gujarat.
The Department of Civil Aviation and Gujarat Government issued a letter of intent (LoI) to MEHAIR after it was selected through a competitive tendering process.
The service is likely to be launched by 22nd December 2014. It will connect major cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Mandvi, Jamnagar, Keshod, Porbandar and Rajkot.
It is likely to use the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan seaplanes which can carry nine passengers plus two pilots at one go.
In August,2014 , Maharashtra became the first state in the country to launch the first ever sea plane service from the mainland .The service was launched between Mumbai and Aamby Valley near Lonavala.
MEHAIR has deployed a four-seater Cessna 206 amphibian to operate the service.
