National Flag
- The National flag is a horizontal tricolour of deep saffron (kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion.
- In the center of the white band, there is a wheel in navy blue colour. It has 24 spokes.
- The ratio of width of the flag to its length is two to three.
- The design of the flag was presented originally by Madame Bhikaji Rustom Cama in 1907.
- There is a set of law (Flag code of India) which governs usage and display of Indian National Flag.
- First unruffled at Stuttgart,Germany during Second International Socialistic Congress in 1907
- Adopted on July 22, 1947 by the Constituent Assembly.
National Emblem
- The national emblem is the replica of top portion of Ahoka’s pillar at Sarnath.
- In original, there are four lions, standing back to back, mounted on an abacus with a frieze carrying sculptures in high relief of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a lion separated by intervening wheels over a bell-shaped lotus.
- The words Satyamev Jayate are inscribed below the emblem in the Devanagari Script.
- The song Jana-gana-mana was originally composed in Bengali by Rabindranath Tagore
- The playing time of National Anthem is about 52 minutes.
- It was first sung on 27 December 1911 at the Calcutta Session of the Indian National Congress.
- It was adopted by Constituent Assembly as the India’s national anthem of India on 24 January 1950.

- Indian peacock, Pavo cristatus is the national bird of India, is a colourful, swan-sized bird, with a fan-shaped crest of feathers.
- The male of the species is more colourful than the female.
- It occupies a significant place in Indian art, culture, mythology and folklores.
National Animal
- Tiger, Panthera tigris is India’s National animal.
- The Royal Bengal tiger is the native of India, one of the races among the eight known races of the species
- Project Tiger was launched in 1973 to protect and to ensure a viable population of the species
National Calendar
- The national calendar is based on the Saka Era with Chaitra as its first month and a normal year of 365 days was adopted from 22 March 1957 along with the Gregorian calendar for the following official purposes
National Fruit
- Mango, Mangifera indica is India’s National fruit.
National Tree
- Banyan tree, Ficus benghalensis is India’s National tree.
National Aquatic Animal
- Dolphin, Platanista gangeticawas declared India’s National Aquatic Animal in 2009.
