Job Description
These posts are basically entry level clerical posts, with salaries comparable to that of a beginner level clerk in a nationalized bank. I am sure you will be happy to know that these posts are permanent:D
Depending on your area of posting (for example branch, divisional office or regional office), your work may comprise of routine duties like issuing and settling insurance policies, accepting cash, routine office administration and so on.
Salary
Total salary (Pre-revision) works out close to Rs.15000 per month when you start in a metro city. Please note that he salary scales are under revision with effect from August 2012. So these are expected to rise by a large scale.

How To Apply
You can only apply through online mode. The website will start accepting registrations from 10 July 2015. Please remember to visit the official site for finding the registration link details.
IMPORTANT
You can apply for positions available in ANY ONE (only) State/UT. The Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL) will allot you an examination centre in the same state where you are applying for.
While you are free to choose the state where you want to apply, but please remember that the OICL requires that you are ‘proficient’ in the regional language of that state. As you can understand this would be important because you will be meeting and working with local people from that state.

Educational requirement For OILC Recruitment 2015
Educational qualification requirements are quite liberal. You need
- Graduation degree from a recognized University OR Pass in XII/HSC with 60% marks (50% for Ex-servicemen, SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities)
- English as a subject at SSC/ HSC/ Intermediate/ Graduation level
- Knowledge of Regional Language (of the State you will be applying for) – proficiency in reading, writing and speaking.
Age limit
As per the official advertisement, age is calculated on 01 July 2015. Minimum allowed age is 18 Years while the maximum age limit is 26 years. For upper limit age relaxation for various categories please check the notification.
Application fee
All general applicants have to pay application fee of Rs.500 and all SC/ST candidates have to pay application fee of Rs.50.
Oriental Insurance Recruitment for Assistants – Selection Procedure
OICL will recruit the candidates based on their performance in a written test and personal interview.
You will first have to appear for an online examination. If you clear this, you will be shortlisted for Interview and Computer Proficiency Test. There will be minimum cutoff for both online exam and interview. Obviously, you need to clear the online exam to be eligible for the interview!
For final selection, the weightage (ratio) of online Examination and interview will be 70:30 respectively. There will be no marks for Computer Proficiency Test, but you will have to pass it.

Written test will be conducted in online mode. It will have following sections.

Some other important things you should note:
- In the online tests, apart from the English section, the questions in all other sections will be given in both English and Hindi.
- There will be penalty of one fourth marks for marking wrong answers in the online written tests. However no marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions. So it is better to leave a question if you don’t know the answer.
For candidates who clear the online written exam, the total marks obtained will be proportionately reduced to a base of 35 to get A as per the following formula.
A = (Total marks obtained)*35/250
The marks for interview (B) will be added to this. Maximum marks for interview is 15. Document verification will also be done at the time of interview.
Final merit list will be prepared on basis of A+B, under different categories of post (general and others) state wise.
