On January 26, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy set a milestone by introducing four welfare schemes, reaching 563 villages across all mandals. These initiatives aim to enhance financial stability, housing security, and food access for farmers, laborers, and low-income families.
1. Rythu Bharosa Scheme
The Rythu Bharosa scheme supports farmers by providing financial assistance of ₹6,000 per acre during the rabi season. Under this initiative:
- ₹569 crore was distributed to 4.41 lakh farmers, covering 9.48 lakh acres.
This scheme is a significant step in boosting agricultural investments.
2. Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa Scheme
Targeting landless agricultural labor families, this scheme offers annual financial aid to improve the livelihood of vulnerable groups. Key details include:
- Financial support of ₹12,000 annually (₹6,000 as the first installment).
- ₹10.91 crore distributed to 20,336 laborers across 561 villages.
The initiative serves as a safety net for those dependent on agriculture without land ownership.
3. Indiramma Housing Scheme
The Indiramma Indlu housing program addresses homelessness by assisting eligible families in constructing homes.
- Each family receives ₹5 lakh for house construction.
- A target of 4.5 lakh houses is set for the year 2024-2025.
Efforts to supply sand at lower prices are also underway to ease construction costs under this program.
4. Ration Cards for Food Security
To enhance food security, the government introduced new ration cards and updated existing ones.
- 15,414 new ration cards were issued, benefiting 51,912 individuals.
- An additional 1.03 lakh members were added to updated ration cards.
This move ensures better access to essential food supplies for low-income families who have faced prolonged delays.
Inclusivity Measures
Following the Telangana High Court’s directive, the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme will now consider urban landless agricultural workers. This decision broadens the inclusivity of welfare measures, addressing the needs of marginalized communities in urban areas.
Focus on Affordable Sand Supply
To support construction under the Indiramma Housing scheme, the Chief Minister has initiated a study to improve sand availability. A committee has been formed to devise ways to provide sand at reduced costs, combating rising construction expenses.
These welfare schemes collectively aim to improve the livelihoods of farmers, laborers, and underprivileged families while addressing issues like food security and housing shortages.
