Since the SBI PO exam pattern has changed last year, aspirants are still confused as to how to prepare for their exam.

With Prelim exams in about two months, candidates have lot of questions regarding the new exam pattern, what to study and how to study for SBI PO exam? how much time to devote for which topic?

SBI PO Preliminary Exam Syllabus
- Exam would be of 1 hour
- It will consist of 100 questions
- 3 Sections Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English
Note : General Awareness/Computers/Marketing are not part of Prelims
Quantitative Aptitude section will have 35 questions from below topics :

DI | Data Interpreatation, Data sufficiency |
All student should note that DI is very likely to be a part of Quantitative Aptitude for Prelims. Many PO exams refer to DI as a part of Quantitative Aptitude section including IBPS PO exam. So we expect DI to be included in Quantitative section.
Reasoning Section will have 35 questions from below topics :
Analytical Reasoning | Seating Arrangements, Grouping, Matching, Selection, Syllogism |
Verbal Reasoning | Blood Relations, Input-Output, Coding-Decoding, Critical Reasoning (Statement – Conclusion, Arguments, Assumptions, Courses of Action), Venn Diagrams, Direction Sense |
Non Verbal Reasoning | Probability is less as this topic has not been asked in recent PO exams. |
English section will have 30 questions from below topics :

Note : Candidates should get cut-off marks decided by bank in each section individually and on overall total.

As per the new SBI PO exam pattern, it is compulsory to clear preliminary test to be shortlisted for Main Tests. Considering that we have given you study plan for the Prelims to concentrate on it and clear it with flying colors.

8 week detailed SBI PO study plan is shown below as per syllabus and importance of topics. Study Plan tells the approximate time(in hours) to be spent per topic.
Note :
- Study Plan has number of hours per week (not per day) and assuming 25% of time for reading and preparation while 75% of time for practicing the topic.
- Text color code shows the expected number of questions according to importance of topic.
- Prelim practice will help you for Main exam too. So study accordingly.
