Endangered species of Indian flora-Plants that are in DANGER!
Indian flora is one of the richest in the world. The latitudinal extent of the country results in wide range of climate, topology and environment of the country which in turn influences the flora. There are over 15000 species of flowering plants and this account for 6% of the total plant species of the world.
The combination of global warming and habitat destruction has resulted in the extinction of the plant species not only from India but also other counties.
Plants seemed to be the most threatened with 60 species being listed as Critically Endangered and 141 as Endangered.
