State Bank of India (SBI) conducted online examination for the recruitment of PO in SBI associate banks in November 2014. It was the first time SBI associate bank paper was conducted online. The paper had objective MCQ type questions as well as descriptive questions. The total time for the objective paper was 120 minutes while the time allotted for descriptive paper was 60 minutes. The objective section consisted of 4 sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Analysis, English and GK. The descriptive paper had 5 questions. The questions were displayed on a screen. The candidates had to write their answers on paper. It was necessary they copied the questions while answering. But copying of passage wasn’t necessary.
In this post, we have tried to give you a detailed review of SBI PO In Associate Bank Exam 2014-15.
Reasoning: 50 questions of 50 marks. The questions were moderate to easy in difficulty level.
Questions were asked on circular sitting arrangement – some faced inside while some outside, linear sitting arrangement, who stays on which floor: These questions were of moderate difficulty but if you had practice such questions, they should not have caused much of a problem.
Machine input- output, syllogism, data sufficiency: were a bit lengthy but on the easier side.
Inequality, determination of age etc. were easy to answer.
Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions of 50 marks. Questions were of moderate difficulty level.
DI questions were lengthy but not very difficult to solve. There were 5 DI questions. Questions involved bar diagram, pie chart, graphs etc.
There were questions from probability and series. Data sufficiency questions required presence of mind. But if you did your homework right and had lots of practice these questions could be easily solved.
Simple basic algebra.
General Knowledge: 50 questions of 50 marks. This section can be said to be moderately difficult.
Questions not only from basic GK but more stress were given to financial related questions. Marketing questions though direct requires some background knowledge to answer. Few computer questions were also asked. But those were on the easier side. If you have some basic knowledge of computers you can answer these with ease. Few sample gk questions are:
- What is the upper limit of PPF?
- Which is the oldest currency?
- Who is the author of the book titled final test exit Sachin Tendulkar?
- What is scanner?
- What is MS WORD?
- Bachpan bachao andolan- Kailash Satyarthi etc.
English: 50 questions of 50 marks. The questions were on the easier side.
One of the 2 comprehension passages (2) was a tad bit difficult. The arranging of sentences in correct sequence required patience. There was fill in the blanks, chose the wrong part of the sentence etc were easily answerable.
Descriptive Paper: 50 marks. 5 questions and 60 minutes.
The questions were displayed on the computer screen. The candidates needed to copy the questions from the screen and write the answers on the answer sheet provided. Copying the passage wasn’t necessary but the follow up questions were. There was an essay to write. 2 topics were given (e.g. CSR of banks and the pros and cons of self attestation) Two options for letter (an official and another friendly letter.) a comprehension passage (on the debate over the importance of subsidy I agriculture etc) a précis writing and another short paragraph to write. The essay, letter, paragraph and précis contained word limit.
